🚨 Man Threatens to ‘Stab Police’ and ‘Bite Their Noses Off’ in Houghton-le-Spring Incident
A 28-year-old man from Houghton-le-Spring has been sentenced after launching a foul-mouthed tirade at police, threatening to stab officers and “bite their noses off” when asked to pick up a bottle he’d thrown in the street.
Macauley Melvin became aggressive when approached by officers on February 25, shouting abuse and calling them “nonces” before riding off. He continued making violent threats as officers followed, and after being detained he headbutted the police van cage and spat inside.
Melvin admitted using threatening behaviour and causing criminal damage.
His solicitor said he had experienced trauma earlier this year but had since avoided further offending.
⚖️ Sentence:
- 12-month community order
- 15 rehabilitation days
- £114 victim surcharge
District Judge Zoe Passfield acknowledged his recent improvement but warned the behaviour was unacceptable.
