A family is appealing for information, and also warning others to increase their security, after an elderly couple was burgled in Hylton Castle on the early hours of friday morning.
The burglary, involving a property on Cranleigh Road, took place at around 4am. The jewelry and valuables of the old man and woman living there, owned for decades, there were stolen.
Doorbell footage taken from a neighbour shows two young men fleeing the property. Anyone who has any information on who these might be are urged to get in touch.
In the meanwhile, Hylton Castle residents are recommended to increase their home security immediately as burglaries and attempted burglaries have increased around the area in recent days.
Several days ago, a group of four young men walked into a home in Castletown, only for the houseowners to be awake and chase them away.
