Apple Tree to be planted in memory of SAFC’s Louise Wanless

An Apple tree is to be planted in memory of former SAFC director of communications Louise Wanless.

Louise, who served the club for many years, passed away in 2021 at the age of 51 following a “long term illness”.

She was a beloved figure in SAFC, famously referred to with a slogan stating “Not all legends are on the pitch.”

Now, the Sunderland Supporters Heaven Branch, an organisation operated by Joanne Youngson that seeks to remember fans who have passed away, is teaming up with the Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen to plant an Apple tree in their garden in her memory.

The tree will be planted by Gary, a member of Louise’s family.
