A late Harry Leonard goal for Blackburn stops Sunderland from coming back from behind to steal all 3 points for the third game in a row.
Harry Leonard scored a scrappy goal in the 90th minute to earn a point for the home side.
Rovers started the match very much on top, and after just 13 minutes, Yuki Ohashi opened the scoring for Blackburn.
Tyrhys Dolan volleyed the ball into the area, and Sunderland struggled to deal with it, before it fell to Ohashi, who couldn’t miss.
Dolan also had a goal ruled out for offside in the first-half, which would have put the home side 2-0 up.
Sunderland started the 2nd half similar to how Blackburn started the first-half, and they turned the game around after just 10 minutes into the half.
Patrick Roberts played a big part in both of the goals, as he set up both goals in a similar fashion.
Chris Rigg scored the first, 6 minutes into the 2nd half, as Roberts charged to the bi-line, pulled the ball back, and after a couple deflections, it fell to Rigg, who finished nicely with his right-foot.
Just a few minutes later, Wilson Isidor scored to put Sunderland into the lead, with a brilliant flick finish, once again set up by Patrick Roberts.
Sunderland had multiple opportunities to extend their lead, their biggest opportunity coming from Chris Rigg, who’s header from close range went just over the bar.
Jobe also had a good opportunity, after being set up by Wilson Isidor, but his curling effort went just over too.
Harry Leonard managed to steal a point at the end, after a scramble in the box and he pounced first to squeeze the ball in.
Eliezer Mayenda had a golden opportunity to take all 3 points, right at the death as Wilson Isidor played him through, 1 on 1 with the ‘keeper, but the 19-year-old seemed to crumble under the pressure, as he just ran into the ‘keeper and the opportunity disappeared.
Next up, Sunderland have Stoke City at The Bet365 Stadium, as they will hope to keep the pressure on the top 2.
