A woman is fighting for her life after being stabbed in the neck in what police say was an unprovoked attack in Birmingham.
Emergency services were called to Smallbrook Queensway shortly before 9pm, where officers found the woman, aged in her 30s, with a serious neck injury.
She remains in critical condition in hospital.A man in his 20s was arrested near the scene and remains in custody. Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Detective Inspector James Nix said:> “We believe this was an unprovoked attack and are working to understand why it happened. Officers will remain in the area today to continue enquiries and provide reassurance.
