Three men have been jailed for plotting to murder a former cage fighter who played a key role in the UK’s largest-ever cash robbery.
Paul Allen, 46, who helped steal £54 million from a Securitas depot in Kent in 2006, was left paralysed after being shot at his home in Woodford, east London, in July 2019.
Brothers Louis Ahearne, 36, and Stewart Ahearne, 46, were sentenced at the Old Bailey to 33 and 30 years respectively, while Daniel Kelly, 46, received 36 years for their roles in the attempted murder.
Allen had previously been jailed for his part in the Securitas heist, which remains the largest cash theft in British history. Most of the stolen money was never recovered.
The attack on Allen was described by prosecutors as a targeted and premeditated act of revenge linked to his criminal past.
