Burnley VS Sunderland – Match Preview & Prediction
The Black Cats head to Turf Moor in a huge match in the promotion race, as Sunderland have the chance to move back into the top 2.
Birnley currently sit 2nd in the table, just 2 points above Sunderland in 4th, and a win for The Black Cats would see them leapfrog their opponents and into 2nd.
3rd place Sheffield United play tomorrow and top of the table Leeds play on Sunday, so Sunderland would stay 2nd until at least tomorrow.
The last time the 2 sides met was back in August at The Stadium of Light, and Sunderland came out 1-0 winners, thanks to a goal from Romaine Mundle.
The last time The Black Cats came out on top at Turf Moor was back in the League One days, when Sunderland won the match 1-3, causing an upset as Burnley were a Premier League outfit at the time.
Sunderland will have their work cut out to try and break past Burnleys impressive defence.
The Clarets have only conceded, an unbelievable, 9 goals this season, the least amount of goals conceded throughout the EFL.
Burnley, like Sunderland, are also unbeaten on home soil in the league, so it will be an impressive victory if Sunderland were able to come out on top.
Team News
Enzo Le Fée is available and could make his Sunderland debut on Friday night in Lancashire.
However, defender Aji Alese will miss the fixture after Régis Le Bris confirmed the 24-year-old will need to have surgery after picking up an injury in last Saturday’s third-round Emirates FA Cup tie against Stoke City.
Prediction
Burnley 2-3 Sunderland
Scorers – Wilson Isidor x2 and Jobe.
