Local businesses increasingly forced to shut due to surging operating costs

PoshStreetFood has been forced to shut due to rising costs

In November 2021, Posh Street Food was the last business to open its doors at Stack Seaburn and bring it all together. Now almost a year later, they have announced that they have made the unfortunate decision to close.

Chef Matei Baran has over 25 years of experience in the kitchen and has a passion for sourcing unique and high-quality produce to create treats for the senses. He has been seen on BBC1 Masterchef and he has worked alongside some of the best chefs the UK has to offer. He has various awards behind him such as Quarter Finalist Masterchef Professionals in 2016, Silver medal North East Chef of the Year in 2015 and more.

The 27th of September, marked the last day for Posh Street food as they announced on 28, September on their official Instagram account.

It said, “Unfortunately, it is with regret that after careful consideration I have decided that it is no longer financially viable for us to trade at this location from Wednesday 28 September”.

“The current economic climate and rising costs have had a huge effect on many businesses, all of these factors followed by the huge increase in our rent at Stack have made it almost impossible to trade without putting the rest of business in jeopardy”.

He has thanked all the customers and he hopes to see them at other venues where he is still available such as The Social & Kitchen, Barista Boho and the #PoshPopUp events.
