Convicted County Durham Paedophile Jailed for Raping Another Woman

Mark Tweddle, 39 from the village of Brandon, County Durham, has been jailed for nine years for raping a woman he met online in her sleep.

But it isn’t his first offense. Tweddle had previously served time for attempting to abuse a 13 year old girl, who he also met on an app.

Just six months later, he met his latest target concealing his history and invited the woman to his home, who only agreed to be friends with her, only to then abuse her whilst sleeping.

She woke up and terrified, she ran outside and dialled 999.

He was sentenced to nine years in prison.

The emotional impact left on the victim, however, has been devastating. She quoted:

“It left me feeling violated, disgusted, dirty and used.

“I feel angry since this happened and I’m experiencing negative emotions which feels as if I’m losing myself and grieving for myself and the life I should be living.

“I’ve been struggling to get up in the morning and finding it hard to face the day.

“I’ve lost trust in all males and don’t feel comfortable in the company of any man in any way because I just don’t feel safe.

“I don’t want my friends or family to touch or hug or comfort me.

“I’ve completely lost myself and it will take some time to get that trust back.
