Coventry City 3-0 Sunderland – Match Report
An absolutely disgraceful performance from Sunderland sees them hammered by the Sky Blues, thanks to a hat-trick from Haji Wright.
The Black Cats couldn’t string 2 passes together throughout the full match, and got exactly what they deserved.
Coventry we’re by far the better side, and they could have won by a lot more than 3.
The home side piled the pressure on from the start, but struggled to convert their chances, until Haji Wright scored a wonderful goal from over 20-yards out.
He turned towards goal, realized no one was applying any pressure on him, took a shot and it arrowed into the bottom corner.
Less then 10 minutes later, Chris Mepham brought down Ephron Mason-Clark just inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot.
Haji Wright stepped up and slotted the penalty down the middle to make it 2-0.
Sunderland showed no desire in the second half to start a comeback, and with 20 minutes left, Haji Wright scored his 3rd goal of the afternoon.
Victor Torp played a delightful ball in behind towards Wright, who dinked the ball over Anthony Patterson to score his hat-trick.
The Black Cats are now 9 points off 2nd, and 12 above 7th, with Coventry moving up to 5th, 2 points clear of 7th.
Truly not good enough, and a result that has been in the making after weeks of below par performances from the lads.
