A reward of £10,000 has been offered for information on the whereabouts of murder suspect Alexander Carr.
Carr is wanted in connection with the murder of a woman on Brady Street, Pallion Sunderland, last week.
Crimestoppers has placed Carr on its most wanted list and is offering £10,000 in return for information leading to his arrest, as he remains on the run this afternoon (December 8).
“It is crucial that Alexander Carr is located as soon as possible as he is a key person that police need to speak to in connection with this murder,” said Fleur Brown, regional manager at Crimstoppers North East.
“This is why our charity is offering a reward and appealing for anonymous information. If you know where Alexander Carr is, or where he may be staying, I urge you not to approach him but to speak to us.”
Northumbria Police believe Carr is aware he is wanted and is actively avoiding arrest. He is known to have links to Newcastle city centre, Jesmond and Sunderland.
Over the past few days, armed police have been seen in a number of areas throughout Sunderland and the region looking for him, including in Tunstall Road, an area in Pallion, and even stopping a metro at Monument Station.
“We are determined to locate and apprehend him as soon as possible and continue to ask for the public’s support with this,” superintendent Lyn Peart, of Northumbria Police, said last night.
“If you recognise him, or think you know where he may be, please let us know immediately. Members of the public are asked not to approach Carr. Instead, alert police if you have seen him.”
If you have seen Carr, or know any information of his whereabouts, please contact Northumbria Police immediately by calling 999 quoting crime number 143632K/22.
