Crystal Palace 0-0 Sunderland Match Report
Sunderland ‘keeper Robin Roefs was the standout player, as Sunderland earn their first point on the road this season.
Sunderland stay in 6th on 7 points in their first 4 matches, and Crystal Palace stay 8th with 6 points in their first 4.
It was a tight game for the majority, with both teams struggling to break each other down.
Chemsdine Talbi had the best opportunity in the first half, after some brilliant work from Simon Adingra on the left, as he whipped in a beautiful ball into the back post, but Talbi took a touch rather than hitting first time, allowing a defender to get out and block his shot.
It was the same story for most of the second-half, but Crystal Palace upped the pressure towards the end, and thanks to several brilliant saves from Robin Roefs, Sunderland travel back to Westside with a hard earned point.
The best of the bunch came from a Kamada volley on the edge of the box, which looked destined to go into the bottom left corner, but Roefs got down brilliantly to palm the ball round the post.
Roefs also made an unbelievable reflex save from close range, as the ball was prodded towards goal from Mateta, and the Sunderland ‘keeper managed to keep it out with his shoulder.
He then went on to make another 2 fantastic saves in the final 2 minutes, as Christantus Uche and Kamada saw their efforts palmed away yet again.
It is far to say that the Roefs was definitely on fire!
Next up for Sunderland is Aston Villa at home next Sunday at 14:00.
MoTM – Robin Roefs
Both centre-backs, Omar Alderete and Nordi Mukiele deserve a mention also, as they were both immense at the back today, and did really well to limit Mateta in front of goal.
