Dermot O’Leary will try to force Ant to “confess he is a Sunderland fan” on Saturday Night Takeaway

Ant McPartlin is to face pressure to “admit he is a Sunderland” fan during Saturday Night Takeaway as part of a revenge prank pushed on him by co-stars.

For years now, as millions of ITV viewers tune in to watch, Ant and Dec have made a whole host of famous faces victims of their hilarious I’m A Celebrity Get Out of My Ear and Undercover sketches, from Cheryl to Simon Cowell and Harry and Jamie Redknapp to Oti Mabuse and now, as the Geordie presenters gear up to host what could be the last Takeaway for a while, if not ever, some stars have jumped at to exact revenge on them.

And first up on Saturday, April 6 are Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, as the This Morning hosts focus their attention on Ant. And, in a preview clip released by ITV on Thursday, Dermot tries to get Ant to admit that he’s actually a Sunderland fan, having been presented with a box full of SAFC merchandise.

As he first pulled out a hat emblazoned with the Black Cats colours and team name, Ant looked slightly annoyed, as Dermot, speaking to him through an earpiece, gave him instructions to say: ‘People think I’m a Newcastle United fan, but actually, I’ve been Sunderland since I was a kid.”

Ant then pulled out a red and white scarf and started to follow Dermot’s orders, saying: “People think I’m a Newcastle fan” before stopping in his tracks and then continuing: “Yeah I am a Newcastle United fan, I am.”

Determined to get Ant to break rank, Dermot responded: “No,” as he then tried to get Ant to don the Sunderland merchandise by chanting: “Put it on, put it on” as the presenter continues to ignore his orders.

The prank will play out in full on this weekend’s Saturday Night Takeaway, when Ant and Dec will also be joined by music legends Take That.
