An Asylum seeker from Egypt has been convicted of sexually assaulting a woman on a train, while showing another one pornography and acting indecently in front of her.
Hamada Salah, who is seeking asylum in the UK and is now in Newcastle, sexually assaulted one victim and showed both women pornography during two separate incidents on a TransPennine Express journey.
The court heard he boarded the train in West Yorkshire and sat near a 20 year old woman, first starting to stare at her, spreading his legs.
He continually made contact with her legs with his own, prompting her to move assuming first it was a mistake. She then noticed he was attempting to look up her skirt by looking under the table.
She defended herself by saying she was only 20, but he replied saying it was the perfect age for sex. He then left his phone on the table showing a pornographic image
She subsequently left and moved to another carriage. After, Salah then moved and sat next to a 67 year old woman.
He then started showing her pornographic images, joking that it was his girlfriend. Attempts by the woman to state her age to put him off did not work and he started rubbing his groin.
She then also left the carriage.
Salah, 28, of Wingrove Road, Fenham, Newcastle, who has no previous convictions in the UK, pleaded guilty to sexual assault and two charges under the public order act of causing harassment, alarm or distress.
He was sentenced to 44 weeks, suspended for two years, with rehabilitation requirements and 200 hours unpaid work.
