Several weeks ago The Cavalier Pub in Silksworth burnt down in circumstances what are suspected to be arson.

The pub, also at times known as the Poacher’s Pocket, has stood on the hill above Gilley Law for decades and has been a fond source of memories for many people.

It had already closed by the time of the pandemic, yet its final fate would hurt many.
