Fire Brigade extinguish allotment fire caused by suspected arson at Marley Potts

The Tyne & Wear Fire Service extinguished an allotment fire in the early hours of this morning caused by suspected arson.

The fire broke out at 12.30am in Marley Potts. However, firefighters were quickly able to get it under control.

It is not know how much damage was caused, but it was large enough to have damaged some of its contents.

Youth based arson is on the increase throughout Sunderland, and targeting of allotments and cars has become commonplace as weather has improved.
