Flood alerts have been issued by the environment agency as more heavy rain is forecasted to be on the way over the next few days.
The alerts cover the “lower river wear” area which includes Lumley, Washington and Sunderland accordingly.
The river in these areas may burst its banks and impact low lying areas.
Although the city part of Sunderland is elevated, people should avoid the riversides and be cautious.
