Fulham 1-0 Sunderland – Match Report

The Black Cats fall to 6th in the Premier League after suffering just their 3rd defeat of the season.

Sundwrland could fall as low as 10th with Manchester United, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur still to play.

Raul Jiminez scored late on after getting on the end of a delightful cross by Samuel Chukwueze, as Jiminez managed to find space in between Ballard and Geertruida before poking it home.

It was a sluggish performance from Sunderland, as they just never really looked like they could get any momentum, as they managed just 1 shot on target in each half.

Sunderland only managed 4 shots with 2 on target in the match, compared to Fulham’s 24 shots and 6 on target.

Enzo Lee Fee probably had Sunderland’s biggest opportunity, seconds into the 2nd half as he brought down a long ball from Robin Roefs absolutely brilliantly and was unlucky not to find the far corner with his curling effort.

Fulham also came close on a number of occasions, with Harry Wilson having a host of opportunities, but he failed to beat Robin Roefs.

The win for Fulham means that they move up to 14th, leapfrogging Newcastle and 3 points above the relegation zone.

Next up for Sunderland is Bournemouth at home on Saturday 29th November, at 3pm, before trips to Anfield and the Etihad the following week, so it’s going to be a big test for Sunderland in the coming couple of weeks, and it will give us a real sense of where they will be working towards this season.
