Gilesgate man set up cameras in women’s toilets, stole female student’s underwear and collected child abuse images

A Gilesgate man has been convicted of a wide spree of sex offenses, including setting up secret camera’s in women’s toilets, stealing women’s underwear, as well as having thousands of indecent images of children

David Ian Wales, 45, of Sherburn Road in Gilesgate (Durham City), was found to have 11,000 indecent images on his devices, and through searching his devices it had been discovered it set up hidden cameras in women’s toilets.

He had in addition, being actively burgling properties, with numerous women’s underwear found in his possession.

He was sentenced to 34 months in prison.
