Hundreds of Doxford Park jobs uncertain as RSA lines are to be sold to Admiral

The future of potentially several hundred Sunderland based jobs has been thrown into uncertainty after insurance company RSA has announced it has sold its lines to Admiral.

RSA, which is currently based in Doxford Park, had formalised a plan to move its premises into the new City Hall building in the near future.

However, the company takeover and transferring of lines has placed hundreds of jobs at risk as Admiral reportedly plans to dismiss 70% of the workforce nation wide, sources at RSA told SGM, who did not wish to be named.

RSA currently employs 1000 personnel throughout various UK call centre sites including Peterborough, Halifax and Horsham, with several hundred believed to be in Sunderland.

However, Admiral is reportedly seeking to only transfer 300 of those employees, leading to uncertainty over the future of most jobs in the company.

The staff at Doxford Park have been told they will receive a confirmation regarding the future of their employment in January.
