A woman from Hylton Road smashed up a former Hendon pub after she believed she had bought it with BitCoin and been scammed out of it.
Nicole Burton, 49, went on a rampage in July around the premises of the Hendon Garden and smashed its windows out with a hammer.
She believed the pub, which has since been turned into flats, was rightfully hers and that the current owner has no right to convert into flats.
She admitted the offense after being caught, but believed the property was hers after buying it from a “member of her own family” by BitCoin.
However, she had no proof of such purchase, and did not even in fact know the real owner, who she had nothing against.
After her defence made a case concerning Burton’s mental health challenges, the court fined her £250 in compensation towards the damage, in addition to an additional £40 and a £16 victim subcharge.
