About The Role:
A.L.S Sorting is looking for reliable and professional self-employed van owners to carry out parcel distribution routes across the North East.
The role involves delivering and collecting bulk parcels between designated parcel shops and business locations, rather than delivering individual parcels to residential addresses. Routes include up to 15 delivery and collection stops per day, depending on the workload.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver bulk parcels to designated parcel shops.
- Collect parcels from parcel shops and allocated business locations.
- Complete up to 15 delivery and collection stops per route.
- Load, unload and secure parcels safely in your van.
- Follow allocated routes and complete scheduled stops efficiently.
- Record deliveries and collections using the relevant systems.
- Communicate professionally with parcel shop staff and the operations team.
- Report delays, discrepancies or other issues.
- Keep your vehicle clean, safe and roadworthy.
Requirements:
- Own a suitable van in good working condition.
- Hold a full, valid UK driving licence.
- Have appropriate business-use motor insurance.
- Be reliable, punctual and professional.
- Have good organisational and time-management skills.
- Be able to work independently and manage an allocated route.
- Have a smartphone for navigation and delivery systems.
- Be physically capable of handling and loading parcels safely.
Previous parcel delivery, parcel shop or logistics experience is beneficial.
Pay And Working Arrangements:
The advertised rate is £130 per day for completing the agreed route and duties. Work is available Monday to Saturday, with typical shifts lasting approximately 5–7 hours.
As a self-employed contractor, you will be responsible for your own tax, National Insurance contributions, fuel, vehicle maintenance, insurance and other applicable business expenses.
