Arriva is recruiting a Product Owner to join its Sunderland office (hybrid working, minimum three days per week on-site). The role may also be based in London, but this listing includes Sunderland as a primary location.
Arriva operates across 11 countries, employing around 35,000 people and delivering over 1.5 billion passenger journeys annually. Following its acquisition by I Squared Capital in 2024, the company continues to expand its growth and sustainability agenda.
Role Overview:
The Product Owner will translate business needs and product vision into actionable requirements, ensuring delivery teams provide maximum value. The role involves maintaining a prioritised product backlog, collaborating with business units and IT partners, and acting as the bridge between business priorities and technical delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain a prioritised product backlog
- Translate business goals into user stories and acceptance criteria
- Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives
- Work closely with business units, IT partners and platform teams
- Engage stakeholders to gather feedback and align delivery expectations
- Track product performance metrics and adoption rates
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure and aligned with platform standards
Domain Allocation (Confirmed Upon Appointment):
- Back Office (HR, Payroll, Finance, Compliance, Risk)
- Operations (Planning, Fleet, Safety, Control Systems)
- Customer & Commercial (Customer platforms, Ticketing, CRM, Revenue & Digital)
Key Success Criteria:
- Well-maintained backlog aligned to business objectives
- On-time feature delivery
- Measurable improvements in engagement and adoption
- KPI tracking and data-driven decision making
