• Expected 12–22 hours per week
ABOUT THE ROLE
• Join the shop team at Barry’s Home Bakery
• Serve customers, prepare food, maintain stock and displays, and help keep the shop running smoothly
• Work in a busy and friendly bakery environment
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve customers and provide friendly service
• Prepare sandwiches and other food to order
• Handle cash and card payments
• Keep counters and displays fully stocked and well presented
• Ensure products are correctly priced and presented
• Monitor stock levels
• Upsell products and promote offers and meal deals
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards
• Complete food safety and temperature checks
• Rotate stock and check dates
• Help manage waste and product availability
• Clean down the shop and assist with opening and closing
• Support the team wherever needed
REQUIREMENTS
• Friendly and comfortable speaking with customers
• Available to work across the three Gateshead shops if required
• Reliable and punctual
• Takes pride in keeping the workplace clean and well presented
• Comfortable working at pace during busy periods
• Proactive and willing to get involved
• Works well as part of a small team
• Comfortable suggesting products and upselling
• Previous retail, bakery, café or food-service experience useful but not essential
• Attitude and reliability are considered more important than previous experience
