Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present food according to the required specification
- Operate kitchen workstations including grills, fryers and microwaves
- Work as part of a team to meet time and quality targets
- Follow food hygiene, allergen, health and safety standards
- Clean work areas throughout shifts
- Complete full kitchen clean-downs
- Rotate stock and store food safely
- Complete induction, role-specific and refresher training
- Contribute to continuous improvement within the kitchen

About The Role
J D Wetherspoon plc is recruiting Kitchen Staff at The Swatter’s Carr, 228 Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, paying £12.91 per hour for 14 hours per week.
The successful candidate will work as part of the kitchen team, preparing, cooking and presenting food while helping to keep the kitchen running smoothly. The role involves operating kitchen equipment, meeting food quality and timing standards, maintaining cleanliness and following food hygiene, allergen and health and safety requirements.
No previous experience is required. Wetherspoon provides induction, role-specific and ongoing refresher training to help employees develop the skills needed for the position.
The pub offers flexible shift patterns, including mornings, evenings, weekends and late finishes. Additional pay of £1 per hour is available for hours worked between midnight and 5:59am.
There are also opportunities for career progression. Wetherspoon offers structured on-the-job training, apprenticeships, management academies and cross-training into other areas including the bar, floor and hotel. Employees can progress into team leader, kitchen shift leader or pub manager positions.
