About the Role
NHS Jobs is recruiting a full-time Transport Driver to join its team based in Washington. The successful candidate will safely transport passengers, medical equipment and specimens while ensuring vehicles are maintained to a high standard and journeys are completed efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive company vehicles safely and in accordance with road traffic legislation
- Transport passengers, equipment and medical specimens securely
- Plan routes to ensure an efficient transport service
- Undertake long-distance journeys when required, including overnight stays
- Meet time-sensitive transport deadlines, including ferry schedules
- Carry out daily vehicle safety and roadworthiness checks
- Complete daily vehicle inspection (VDI) reports
- Report vehicle defects and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures
- Ensure safety equipment and accident packs are maintained
- Operate communication systems in line with company procedures
- Participate in the driver rota and complete all mandatory training
- Wear company uniform and personal protective equipment as required
Requirements
- Safe and responsible driving skills
- Ability to plan routes and meet deadlines
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Willingness to travel and undertake overnight stays when required
- Commitment to health and safety and infection control procedures
- Ability to complete vehicle inspections and documentation accurately
