Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise stewarding teams before, during and after events
- Conduct staff briefings and allocate stewarding positions
- Monitor spectator entry and exit, movement and crowd behaviour
- Oversee perimeter security and search operations where required
- Ensure compliance with Ground Regulations, Safety Certificates and event procedures
- Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures
- Manage incidents and provide accurate reports to Event Management and the Safety Officer
- Coordinate emergency procedures and support evacuations when required
- Communicate effectively with event management, emergency services and venue staff
- Mentor and support Stewards
- Ensure high standards of performance are maintained
- Ensure SIA Door Supervisors are appropriately deployed in licensed areas, response teams and search positions where required
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Chief Steward, Senior Steward or in a spectator safety supervisory role
- Previous stewarding or event safety experience
- Level 3 Certificate in Spectator Safety or equivalent, or willingness to work towards the qualification
- SIA Door Supervisor Licence
- Good knowledge of crowd management and spectator safety
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure
- Professional, approachable and customer-focused attitude
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
- First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid qualification
- Experience at sporting events, concerts, festivals or major public events
- Knowledge of the SGSA Green Guide
- Knowledge of National Occupational Standards for Spectator Safety
About The Role
T3 Security Limited is recruiting experienced and motivated Chief Stewards to join its expanding Events Team in Newcastle upon Tyne and across the North East.
The part-time position pays £17.01 an hour and offers flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. The role involves working at sporting events, concerts, festivals and other major public events.
The successful candidate will lead and supervise stewarding teams before, during and after events, helping ensure the safety, security and welfare of spectators, staff and contractors while delivering a high standard of customer service.
Chief Stewards will work closely with the Event Manager, Safety Officer and Supervisors to ensure events are delivered safely and efficiently in accordance with company procedures and venue safety requirements.
Responsibilities include conducting staff briefings, allocating stewarding positions, monitoring spectator movement and crowd behaviour, overseeing perimeter security and search operations, and ensuring compliance with Ground Regulations, Safety Certificates and event procedures.
The role also involves identifying hazards, managing incidents, coordinating emergency procedures and supporting evacuations where required. Effective communication with event management, emergency services and venue staff is essential.
T3 Security is looking for candidates with previous stewarding or event safety experience and strong leadership skills. A Level 3 Certificate in Spectator Safety or equivalent is preferred, although candidates may be willing to work towards the qualification. An SIA Door Supervisor Licence is listed as an essential requirement in the job description.
Previous experience working as a Chief Steward, Senior Steward or supervisor within spectator safety is preferred. First Aid qualifications and experience working at major sporting or entertainment events would also be advantageous.
