ABOUT THE ROLE
• Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming experience for customers.
• Proactively approach customers, understand what they are looking for and make helpful product recommendations.
• Help customers discover products relating to reading, learning, creativity and play.
• Keep the store well-stocked, tidy, safe and welcoming.
• Maintain merchandising, cleanliness and stock replenishment standards.
• Operate tills accurately and handle transactions carefully.
• Support deliveries, stockroom organisation and product availability.
• Follow health and safety, operational and loss-prevention procedures.
• Work with colleagues to meet store targets and KPIs.
• Act as a positive, professional and passionate brand ambassador.
KEYHOLDER RESPONSIBILITIES
For colleagues aged 18 or over, additional Keyholder responsibilities include:
• Opening and closing the store safely and securely.
• Completing cashing-up and end-of-day procedures.
• Taking responsibility for the smooth running of the store when a manager is not present.
• Supporting colleagues and dealing with customer or operational issues.
• Following store security, health and safety and loss-prevention procedures.
• Enhanced pay is provided for the time spent carrying out Keyholder responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness and ability to proactively approach customers and start friendly conversations.
• Passion for delivering a brilliant customer experience.
• Positive, supportive and can-do attitude.
• Reliable and punctual, with flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
• Comfortable learning to use tills and handle transactions accurately.
• Ability to stay organised in a busy, fast-paced store.
• Previous retail, customer service or hospitality experience is helpful but not essential.
• Willingness to learn and get involved is important.
