Man arrested after alleged Armistice Day assault on 75 year old in The Bridges

A man has been arrested after a pensioner was allegedly assaulted in an Armistice Day attack in The Bridges
Police appealed for information last week after reports that a 75-year-old man had suffered an injury to his face.
The incident allegedly happened during the two minutes silence.
SGM had put up a photo appeal of the incident after members of the public responded with outrage on social media and alerted attention to it.
SGM was satisfied that there were enough public witnesses and accounts of the incident to make the judgement what was being claimed was accurate.
However, his partner later contacted SGM and insisted there was “another side to the story”.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault in connection with the report.
“He has since been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
