A man has suffered horrific injuries after being attacked by a dog in Hendon.
The dog, which is a suspected XL bully, mauled the man at the bottom of Villette Road, before it was destroyed by armed police.
Witnesses say more than one individual was attacked, and one man intervened to save the other.
SGM has seen direct photos of the man’s injuries which are too horrific and graphic to share.
He was attacked the arm with the dog having ripped a large chunk out of it and left a gaping hole.
The man is now hospitalised. Northumbria Police have been contacted for comment.
