A prominent Newcastle United supporting account on twitter was ridiculed after it accused a former SAFC player of “rigging” the Carabao cup draw last night, which given them an away tie at Old Trafford
The account, known as “GEORDIE MAG“, stated that ex-Sunderland striker Don Goodman, who played for the black cats 30 years ago from 1991-1994, deliberately took his time to look for the number 16 ball to ensure it was Manchester United, and said it was “absolutely disgusting.”
Many Newcastle fans in the replies quickly agreed with him, however others cringed and ridiculed the remarks, with the top comment noting: “Delete this man. Making us look like Liverpool, begging the world to be against us. We’re better than this.”
Despite the ridicule, Newcastle United’s season has otherwise become increasingly successful, with them having ground out a 1-0 win at home to Man City in the previous round of the cup, and then hammered Sheffield United with a record away win over the weekend.
