NEWS: Sunderland woman phoned up Southwick Police Station and threatened to “slit officer’s throats”

A woman has been sentenced after making chilling threats to attack police during a series of angry calls.

Kelly Bradford, 35, told a call handler she would go to Southwick Police Station and “assault the next officer I see” and even threatening to use a knife.

The court heard the calls were made after she became frustrated at what she believed was a lack of progress in an investigation into an alleged assault against her.

Prosecutors said she made repeated threats, warning she would “slit officers’ throats” and claiming she was not scared of the consequences.

At court, Bradford admitted sending a menacing message over a public communication network.

A judge said her language was “threatening and clearly distressing” to the person who received the calls.

She was handed a 12-month community order, with rehabilitation requirements, and ordered to pay costs.
