Northumberland Man Jailed for Historic Child Sex Offences

A Northumberland man has been jailed for 16 years following a series of serious sexual offences against a schoolgirl in the early 2000s.

Peter Dellbridge, 64, of Western Avenue, Seaton Delaval, was found guilty at Newcastle Crown Court in January of 19 offences, including rape, assault by penetration, and inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

The offences were committed at an address in the Northumberland area over 20 years ago. Dellbridge denied the allegations during police interviews, but a jury convicted him after a trial.

This morning, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison, with an additional year to be served on extended licence following his release.

Northumbria Police praised the bravery of the victim in coming forward and urged others affected by abuse to speak out.
