One woman has been injured and taken to hospital following a crash on the A19 this morning near Chester Road.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 5am today (Tuesday), we received a report of a three-vehicle road traffic collision on the A19 southbound, between the junctions for the A183 and the A690, in Sunderland.
“Emergency services attended and the driver of the one of the vehicles was found to have sustained injuries to her back. She has gone to hospital for treatment of her injuries.
“One lane of the road was closed for a short time to allow for recovery of the vehicles involved. The road is now fully re-opened.”
