Slowly the major filmmaking scene in Sunderland is developing with the announcement of plans to build a multi-million pound film studio in the site of the former Pallion Shipyard.

Although Sunderland has a mostly indie filmmaking scene, this could create countless opportunities for creatives all over the region, as well as bringing more productions into the North East.

Levelling up us with the likes of London and Manchester. This could have major benefits for our city and region, showcasing not just our amazing talent but also, our beautiful scenery and coastline.

The creative scene tends to be under appreciated despite without creatives in general and dreamers, we would have nowhere near the amount of technological advances as well as creative content.

When you use your devices, turn on your TV, remember that that wouldn’t have been possible without creatives! Lockdown would have been more boring without entertainment.

Could this be the next industry to define our city? It’s quite possible.
