“Pack” of yobs violently attacked Jack Woodley’s mother while she visited his grave, knocking her down, kicking and punching her

The mother of the late Jack Woodley was violently attacked by a group of yobs while visiting her own son’s grave.

Zoey McGill’s 18 year old son Jack was murdered by ten teenagers in Houghton-le-spring in 2021 during the Houghton Feast, who chased him down in a group, kicking, punching and ultimately stabbing him.

They were all handed life sentences. Their attempts to appeal were rejected.

Now, his grieving mother has been violently attacked in a way not too dissimilar to the way they targeted him in what appears to have been a pre-mediated attack.

While visiting his grave on October 31st, two cars of people turned up and randomly descended upon her.

She had only recently given birth to a new child 14 weeks earlier.

She told the media: “I was approached by one of the group, and shortly after all of them jumped on me. When they were kicking me on the floor, all that went through my head is what happened to Jack.

“I thought they were going to kill me in the same way my son died, right by his grave.”

“It’s affected me more mentally than it has physically. I just can’t understand why they did what they did at a boy’s grave.”

Durham Constabulary confirmed that they had launched an investigation into the alleged assault on Zoey.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: “Police are investigating an assault which took place at West Cemetery, in School Aycliffe, last Thursday evening (October 31). A woman is believed to have been assaulted by a number of people while visiting the cemetery.

“Thankfully, she is not believed to have suffered any serious injuries. An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing.”
