Paedophile with nine sex related convictions jailed after preying on 11 year old girl

A paedophile who has been convicted of nine child related sex offenses has finally been jailed after he was caught preying on an 11 year old girl.

Warren Milne, from Heaton, who has been caught by decoys posing as children six times previously, was caught again during a routine police check.

Milne had been given a ten-year sexual harm prevention order in 2017 and police went to his home in May this year to do a risk review.

When they checked his phone, they found he had been communicating sexually with what appeared to be an 11-year-old girl, although police were unable to identify if she was a real child or a paedophile hunting decoy.

Kevin Wardlaw, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court: “He had been engaging in sexually explicit conversations on social media with a profile which appeared to be a young girl.

“He was asked how old she was and he said she was 14. A download was obtained confirming he had been communicating on the Kik application with someone who said they were 11 years old and who has not been able to be identified so the prosecution can’t say if it was a child or an adult posing as a child. However, the defendant believed it was a child.

“He discussed having sex with her and her 10-year-old friend, saying ‘I want two young girls right now, I want you both right now in my flat.”

Mr Wardlaw said: “He graphically discussed his intention to have sex with both girls.” He also asked for naked images and urged a meeting either that night or at the forthcoming weekend.”

Milne, of Stratford Road, Heaton, Newcastle, pleaded guilty to attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity, arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, attempting to communicate sexually with a child and breaching his sexual harm prevention order.

The 30-year-old has nine previous convictions between 2017 and 2020 for similar offences. In 2017 he got a suspended prison sentence for two offences of attempting to meet a child following grooming, relating to decoy profiles on social media purporting to be girls aged 12 and 13.

An arrangement to meet at the Metrocentre was made, with the intention of engaging in sexual activity.

In 2018 he got 10 months prison for four counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and breaching a sexual harm prevention order. That related to four separate decoy profiles purporting to be young girls.

In 2020 he was fined for breaching the sexual harm prevention order by deleting the internet history on his tablet.

Recorder Richard Wright KC said Milne poses a high risk of causing serious harm to children and sentenced him to four years in prison with an extended licence period of a further five years.

Jamie Adams, defending, said Milne has learning difficulties and is isolated. He added that he has made attempts on his own life. Mr Adams said: “He is dealing with an addiction. There has to be a recognition by him that he is sick.
