Plans submitted to build new Hotel and Office Complex in place of Bridge House

Plans have been submitted to a build a new hotel and offices in place of the Bridge House building, on Bridge Street.
Napper Architects have been appointed by Gentoo to build what is described as as a hotel “accommodating 125 rooms, restaurant, bar and meeting facilities” as well as “500 sq.m. of office spaces plus 200 car parking bays”.

What is now Bridge House was originally the site of the former Sunderland Grand Hotel, which was demolished in 1974.
The plans add momentum to a growing series of developments around Sunderland City Centre, which have been collectively referred to as “Riverside Sunderland” which also includes new office, residential and leisure facilities.
When the development will begin however has not yet been made public.
