Police appeal after cat put down after being shot in the eye with air gun

Police are appealing for information after a cat had to be put down after being shot in the face with an air gun.

Four-year-old Rory returned to his Darlington home with a “significant” eye injury on 29 May.

He was taken to a vet, who confirmed that he still had a pellet lodged in his eye.

Durham Police said that that the severity of his injury meant he had to be put to sleep.

A force spokesman said the weapon used was likely to have been a BB gun or air rifle.

Anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to contact the force.
