Police appeal for witnesses after Boy, 12 hit by car

Northumbria police are appealing for injuries after a 12 year old boy was hit by a car on a busy road last week.

The 12-year-old suffered what police have described as not life-threatening injuries in the incident, which happened on the Felling Bypass in Gateshead, on the afternoon of Easter Sunday.

Officers, who say the driver stopped at the scene, would now like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Around 3.30pm on Sunday police received a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on Abbotsford Road on Felling Bypass in Gateshead.

“Emergency services attended, where they found a 12-year-old boy with injuries not deemed as life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for treatment where he was later discharged

“The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to assist officers with enquires.”

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to call Northumbria Police on 101, quoting log NP-20240331-0576.
