Police appeal for witnesses and footage after teenage boy dies after receiving unexplained injuries

Northumbria Police are appealing for witnesses and footage after a teenage boy died in unexplained circumstances after being found by the road side.

The male was understood to be walking along the side of the A19, close to the south entrance of the Tyne Tunnel in Jarrow at around 6.10am last Wednesday, May 15.

He was located on the cycle track close to Salcombe Avenue and taken to hospital with serious injuries – which continue to be treated as unexplained.

Evan Hansen, 17, of the Simonside area of Jarrow has sadly since passed away – and we continue to offer support to his loved ones.

We’re keen to hear from any further witnesses, including dog walkers and passing motorists, who may be able to assist us with information, CCTV or dashcam footage.
