Police confirm death on North East Railway

British Transport Police have confirmed a person has died on a North East railway line.

Emergency services were called at around 12noon on Sunday to the railway between Redcar Central and Saltburn, operated primarily by Northern.

A BTP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Saltburn yesterday (19 November) at around 12pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks. 

“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. 

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
