Police find £10,000 in cash scattered all over a street

Three men have been arrested after police officers found up to £10,000 in cash scattered all over a street.

Photos, originally seen in The Chronicle, shown banknotes all over Split Crow Road in Gateshead, dated Wednesday night.

Three men have been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 8.30pm on Wednesday, February 7, officers were on patrol on Split Crow Road in the Deckham area of Gateshead when they noticed two males trying to gather up a large amount of cash which was strewn across the road.

“On seeing the officers, the men then made off from the scene in a vehicle. Approximately £10,000 in cash and a quantity of suspected Class A drugs were recovered by police.

“Searches were carried out and a vehicle believed to be linked to the incident was located a short time later on nearby Hendon Road.

“Three men – aged 39, 32 and 20 – were arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply. All three men have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”
