Police issue statement on Durham Road accident involving 12 year old boy

A 12 year old boy was injured in an collision with a vehicle on the Durham Road between Thorney Close and Farringdon yesterday, Northumbria Police have confirmed to SGM.

A Force spokesperson said: “At 3pm yesterday (Tuesday) police received a report a 12-year-old had been struck by a car on Durham Road in Sunderland.

“Officers and emergency services attended the scene and the boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head, where he remains in a stable condition.

“The driver remained at the scene and to assist with enquiries.

“ The road was closed from the A690 to Thorney Close while emergency services were in attendance and traffic was redirected and reopened a short time later.”
