A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving offenses after a car smashed through a wall on the premises of the former Round Robin Pub.
Yesterday, a photo went viral on social media showing a car having ploughed through a brick wall on what is now the Heron supermarket on Ford Estate.
A Northumbria Police spokesman told SGM in a statement that: “Shortly after 4.30pm yesterday (Thursday), we received a report that a vehicle had collided with the wall of a car park on Hylton Road, in Sunderland.
“Emergency services attended and no-one was found to have been injured in the incident.
“A man – aged 40 – has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst above the legal limit for alcohol.
“He is currently in police custody.”
