Police issue statement on Ryhope collisions as woman arrested.

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a series of collisions in Ryhope.

In a statement sent to SGM, a Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 7.30am today (Friday), we received a report of a road traffic collision on Rodney Close, in the Ryhope area of Sunderland.

“It was reported that a vehicle had collided with a number of other vehicles before overturning.

“Emergency services attended and one person is believed to have sustained non-serious injuries.

“Officers have arrested a woman – aged 19 – on suspicion of driving while above the legal limit for alcohol.

“She is currently in police custody.”
