Police issue update on University Metro Station incident last night

Northumbria Police have issued a statement following an incident last night at the University Metro Station on the outskirts of the city centre around 9pm last night, which seen a large number of emergency vehicles deployed.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson told SGM: “At 8.40pm yesterday (Wednesday), police received a report of a concern for welfare for a woman at University Metro Station on New Durham Road in Sunderland.

“Emergency services attended the scene, and the woman was transported to hospital for treatment.”

Sources close to the woman have since informed SGM that she is going to be okay.
