QPR 0-3 Sunderland Match Report & Player Ratings

Report

Jack Clarke scores twice as Sunderland climb up to 5th in the table and pile on the misery on QPR.

QPR started the game the brighter of the two sides, but after around 20 minutes, Sunderland grew into the game and started to create a few good chances.

Joe Gelhardt was unlucky not to open his account for Sunderland, as he used his body well and got in behind Jimmy Dunne, but his effort hit the side netting.

The Black Cats took the lead on 34 minutes following a corner, Dan Ballard’s header was saved by Dieng, but O’Nien followed in and prodded the ball home.

As QPR began to press for an equaliser, they were awarded a penalty on the 67th minute after Aji Alese was penalised for a hand ball in the area.

Ilias Chair stepped up and Anthony Patterson saved it brilliantly with his foot!

Sunderland’s heads were lifted following the penalty save and 10 minutes later, Joe Gelhardt was unlucky as he got on the end of a good cross by Roberts, but his half-volley struck the bar.

That didn’t matter though, as just a few minutes later, Crikin broke down the left and found Jack Clarke, who cleverly cut inside and finished to make it 2-0.

Clarke scored his second of the game as Ekwah and Neil linked up well, before Neil found Clarke wide open in the box and he finished high into the net.

The Black Cats now find themselves in the play-off places, and QPR now only have 1 win in 16 games as they drop down to 17th.
