Schoolboy, 12, hit in face with ‘knuckle-duster’ outside school

Police are appealing for witnesses after a schoolboy was hit repeatedly in the face with what officers believe is a knuckle-duster outside of school.

The attacker who struck outside Churchill Community College, on Churchill Street in Wallsend, on the day before students broke-up for their Easter holidays, is today still being hunted. Officers say the 12-year-old victim was approached from behind and hit “multiple times” in the face.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “At around 12.50pm on Thursday, March 28, we received a report of assault outside Churchill Community College on Churchill Street in Wallsend. It was reported that an offender approached a student from behind and struck him multiple times in the face before fleeing the scene.

“The victim, a 12-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries to his head, right hand and left leg. Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police.”
