Sunderland 1-1 Huddersfield – Match Report

Sunderland suffer a disappointing result at home to league strugglers, Huddersfield Town as they miss an opportunity to move into the play-offs.

The Black Cats move up to 8th in The Championship, but the majority of the teams around them have at least one game in hand until tomorrow’s fixtures.

The Match was a game of very little chances for both sides, but Sunderland took the lead just after the half hour mark thanks to a superb finish by Joe Gelhardt.

Amad picked the ball up in midfield and played a one-two with Pritchard before playing Gelhardt through.

Gelhardt struck the ball from 20-yards out, and his shot arrowed into the bottom corner.

Huddersfield Town came out fighting in the second-half and scored a well-deserved equaliser in the first 15 minutes.

Josh Koroma wasn’t closed down as he drove into the box, and his shot deflected off Lynden Gooch and floated past Patterson in goal.

Sunderland did almost reply instantly, as Amad’s long-range effort forced a save from Vaclik in goal.

Unfortunately for Sunderland, they just weren’t at it today and missed out on a huge opportunity to move up the table, but you can’t take anything away from the lads, it’s been a brilliant season!
